Kava is a very sweet mare though she tends to be shy and insecure about herself. She has a strong streak when it comes to protecting the ones she loves. Kava at times can be very vulnerable when she is scared or sad she doesn't want to be alone she is a lot like a foal in that way. She hates being by herself even though she is shy. She is what one would call pure in the sense that she does not lie and is always true to her word. She takes promises very seriously and once someone break a promise to her it's hard for them to regain her trust.
Others will find that Kava is extremely captivating and loveable she has a great sense of humour and is almost always smiling and laughing. She also has a knack for picking up things about others because she is very observant. The most important thing of all in Kava is a very patient horse. She does not think to rush or push others. She believes others should be able to work through things in their own way and time.
My Life Has Been:
Kava was born on a cold windy night to a beautiful chestnut mare her mother was full Dutch warmblood and so was her father. Unlike most foals Kava was born in a warm stall at a very prestigious dressage barn. She never went without anything and the humans there were extremely kind and loving to her. Kava loved it at the barn she loved the humans and all of the other horses. She didn’t even mind the grumpy older horses that would pin their ears at her. When Kava was a few months old her and her mother were put out into a large pasture with the other foals. Kava loved the foal she loved to run and play with them and even to curl up and nap with them under the big shade tree. Little did Kava know that at six months old she would be torn from her mothers side and loaded onto a trailer where she would be shipped off to her new owners.
The new owners were okay at first but after Kava turned one that all changed. They began trying to ride her by tossing a saddle and person on her back and whipping her. When she refused to go with the whip they got out a cattle prod and shocked her until she moved. Once she started moving they tied weighs around her legs and forced her to run with them. One day as they were placing the weighs Kava reared and jerked away from them, but she lost her balance and crashed sideways through a wire fence. When she fell into the fence on of the nails came lose and dug deep into Kava’s left shoulder ripping it open as she struggled on the ground. By the time they got her up and out of the fence her shoulder was ruined and it would be months before she could go back into training. However her owners were impatient and didn’t want to have to wait for her to heal so instead they loaded her on a trailer and sent her on her way to the slaughterhouse. The only problem was the truck never arrived at the kill pen it had been hit by another vehicle just hard enough to knock the trailer lose send it off into the ditch. In order to hitch the trailer back to the truck they had to unload all of the horses including Kava.
At this point Kava saw her chance as she began fighting with the humane. She reared and tossed her head finally ripping the rope from their hands and fleeing into the woods. Once she was safe she took to rubbing her halter off on a tree a trick she had learned long ago from her mother. Kava’s only problem at this point was she didn’t know where she was, but she knew she wasn’t going back to those evil humans. So she struck out heading farther and farther from the humans. She soon came across a herd of mares and joined them, but she didn’t stay for long they all had their own foals and had no time to look after a yearling who knew nothing of surviving on her own. She stayed with the mares until her second birthday and struck out on her own again. This time she met a young colt and hung with him until he found young filly and fell in love with her.
To kava it seemed that no mater where she went or who she met none of them wanted anything to do with the abnormally large two year old. Eventually she found an old mare that had no one with her and was very lonely. Kava stuck with the mare becoming fast friends with her as they traveled. They traveled constantly never staying any where for more than a few days. The mare was always talking about this land called Wild Equines where she had grown up and once called home. Kava questioned her as to why she was no longer there and the mare told her the story of her life as a slave and how she was sold from herd to herd stallion to stallion until she was to old to be of any use. Kava stuck with the mare for over a year before the mare fell gravely ill and passed away. It broke Kava’s heart to have her only friend die when they were so close to finding the place she had grown up. After a few days Kava decided she would continue the search for the old mares home no matter how long it took her. It wasn’t long before Kava turned four. As a four year old Kava was a beautiful tall mare that any stallion would droll over. She had a long elegant graceful body that seemed to make all of her gaits look as if she were dancing. Finally just weeks after she turned four years old Kava came upon Wild Equines. She had finally found where she belonged or so she hoped.
